New Players and Imperial Gift 3

Again I’d like to thank our newest players Lynn and Joe The Older. Lynn has played before and has an in with me. When Joe showed up I was completely floored. I guess L5R is just interesting enough to draw anyone in to it. Shaphen, Jonathan, and the Monkey were also in attendance and we played some sweet draft. OK. We played 1 round of draft after 2-3 hours of actually drafting the cards, but I enjoyed it none the less.

In more global news, AEG has posted a PDF of all 44 cards in Imperial Gift 3. The cards are a little large, but they are suitable for screen capture and printing proxies until you get your IG3. Beware that the file size is pretty large (25Meg) if you live in the boonies like I do and resort to less than good “broadband” service. Now if I can only figure out how to extract the images. Any suggestions?

Welcome New Unstored Gamers

I’d like to publicly welcome Jonathan, Chuck, and Shaphan to the Unstored. Each joined me in playing some draft Plague War on Friday night. Jeff (TinyKingJeff from JoeGamer.net) also joined us as well. Much fun was had despite getting in only two games of round robin. I ended up not playing even though I drafted, and instead I officiated and helped the new players understand rules and mechanics as best I could. If it meant adding a new player or two every week, I would gladly not play. I gave each new player a play set of commons from The Plague War as well as a thank you for coming (and honestly something of a bribe to come again).

Draft rules don’t really lend themselves to certain play styles and this was a point of frustration for a couple players. Despite this I think we all had fun. If I’m correct, each player ended up 1-1 after the two games which is pretty cool in my book. At least one person suggested we play constructed next time. While I like drafting for several reasons (and not just because I’m selling the cards), playing constructed WOULD give us more time to play. Let me know what your preferences are.

Again, welcome guys. I was really happy to have you guys there, and I hope we can do it again. Now just figure out what your animal totems are and we’re a go.  FYI I’m frog, Josh is monkey, Lynn is dalmatian, Cory is fox (I think), and Raegan (yes, even Rae) is panda.
